The three linked villages of Verchaix, Morillon and Samo in the Giffer Valley are part of Grand Massif ski area which includes Flaine and covers 250 kms of pistes. The Hunting Lodge is part of a traditional courtyard formed by the Lodge, Stables, Old Bakery and Winery, all in a lawn and woodland setting. The courtyard has as its centrepiece a swimming pool. Maxs Lodge has in addition, private parking and a walled garden/dining area for your exclusive use. Lyon, a world heritage city, has to be visited but do not overlook our 14th century village Perreux or the adjacent town of Roanne famous for its gastromonic delights which includes Troisgros, a Michelin 3 start restaurant listed in the guide top 50 restaurants of the world. Accommodation: The Lodge has two double bedrooms with bathrooms and sleeps four/five. A
child/small adult can be accommodated in the third bedroom/study which has a permanent single bed. One of the bathrooms has a washing machine and dryer. There is a spacious lounge overlooking the courtyard where you will find a gas log effect stove and British satellite TV and DVD player. The kitchen/dining area has been designed as the social hub of the Lodge with a wine press. Bar and matching dining table. A fabulous self-catering chateau, in the popular Ardeche region of France, available for hire between June and September. This is a house not for those looking for sleek luxury, but for those who love comfort with character. It is also for history-lovers, as all the wooden-shuttered windows overlook the ruins of a medieval castle. The Chateau, and indeed the whole site, is protected by the state as a Historic Monument which you can enjoy combined with 21st century touches. There are six bedrooms, all with views of the ruins. Five are double rooms. Some of these have king size beds and three of them are ensuite. Another shares a bathroom and shower with the sixth bedroom which has four beds. One of the doubles has a living room and is on the upper ground floor (ideal for the elderly), and another is on the lower ground floor with its own private shower. The house has five bathrooms, all simply but perfectly comfortably decorated. Communal reception rooms include a dining room with vaulted ceilings on the lower ground floor, a large kitchen, a dining terrace (ideal for breakfast and dinner), a living room with an open fire and a library.
